About Cairo Pythian "Pressure Treated Cross" LP (IS019) [PRE-ORDER]
THIS IS A PRE-ORDER THAT BEGINS SHIPPING ON OCTOBER 31, 2025
Ten years in the making. Pressure Treated Cross fails and fails again. It fails to contain songs. Instead it creates movements. Acts in a play. Musique concrète. Nondiagetic noise in a film that signals to the audience the protagonist was revealed to be the villain all along.
Cairo Pythian, while keeping some of his anonymity, admits hailing from a dank and depressed small town that has suffered from the same industrial decline as the rest of America (excluding those certain coastal cities). When he’s not composing, Cairo Pythian is a life-long day laborer. This Sisyphean waltz of back-breaking work that only leads to more back-breaking work is the scoliosis spine, the unseen through-line, in all of his work. It performs and contemplates failure with effort. Hardened and fortified. And rejecting tradition or trends, Cairo Pythian spits in our faces and delivers a divine and Mephistian dialogue. Careening away from lucidity to something all the more ecstatic and honest in its visions.
Pressure Treated Cross was recorded and mixed by Capt. Tripps Ballsington at High Command in Olympia, WA during the 21st Century, and mastered by John Golden at Golden Mastering in Ventura, CA.
